Jacob Spigelman is a highly accomplished Power Systems Engineer with distinguished academic credentials and proven expertise in the NEM Connections process. As a Monash University graduate, he was awarded the prestigious Graham Beard Memorial Prize for being the top-ranked graduating student in Electrical Engineering, along with multiple other academic honours, including the IET Prize and the Peter J. Lloyd Prize for theoretical physics excellence.

His professional journey includes progressive responsibility across Australia’s energy sector, most recently at AECOM where he contributed to Melbourne’s Metro Tunnel Project, gaining experience in large-scale energy infrastructure development and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Most recently at AEMO, Jacob served in the Queensland Onboarding & Connections Team, specialising in onboarding and conducting GPS and model assessments in PSS/E and PSCAD to ensure compliance with NER, AEMO, and NSP Guidelines. Jacob has also made significant contributions to various ongoing AEMO Reform Initiatives, including the Online Issue Tracker, Connections OEM Portal, Commissioning Calendar, PSS/E Model Database, and the Updated Access Standards.

Jacob brings advanced technical proficiency in industry-standard software including PSS/E, PSCAD/EMTDC, Python and Fortran programming, positioning him as a versatile engineer capable of bridging traditional power systems analysis with modern digital solutions. His combination of academic excellence, hands-on project experience, and forward-thinking approach makes him well-qualified to drive innovative solutions in Australia’s evolving energy landscape.
